Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
During my usual mid-week check up on restoration progress, this Red Kite flew over me as I stomped back along the Blackwater river footpath to my car parked on Longwater road. Both it and I were surprised at our encounter, as it popped out above me from behind tree cover.
It started to wheel gracefully away, I desperately turned on my camera, took off lens cap (a pain, as I am right handed, while Canon decided to put the on/off switch on the left side of my camera), and then hunted frantically to get the bird in frame. Reeled off some nice shots, as it slowly wheeled out of range. Had to crop images.
Didn't quite get it all in frame.
90% luck, 5% field craft, 5% camera skills.

Glad you liked the Red Kite. We're fortunate in that there are quite a few Red Kites around the area. Even more fortunate that they will fly very low, even over reasonably built up areas. It is simply a matter of having camera to hand, and having the sun gods smiling when one does fly low overhead.

And the top-side in the last one ....
Just a Kestrel - quite a way off, (that's my excuse).
