So we decided about 6pm to go a wee wander up the Haugh to see if the Kingfisher was about and it would be cooler up there next to the water lol.
Immediately as we approached its usual spot on the river....a flash of blue flew to a tree
Well it's there you just gotta find it lol
And after that it was just flying past laughing at us as it was constantly flying towards the sun !!! but I set out to find it and I did!
Next a wanted to see an owl...Well that didny happen lol
Not many birds to be seen not much water either !!!
Came across a resting butterfly for a change!!!
Some chaffis followed us or escorted us up a very overgrown path
Who then deserted us but left us with some Bullfinches
I took a pic of this woodpigeon taking off only to realise when I got home there is a Heron sitting at the base of the tree ....I never even saw it at the time lol
And just as we were about to turn and head back up hill...I had a last quick look across the river..
Some activity....
And in the trees some spotted flycatchers were flying back and forth
Then one landed on a tree on my side of the river...very nice of it to do so
Some young goldies stopped in the same tree
Well I was thrilled I saw so much so late in the day and we then decided to go down the park and watch the sun set to finish off our lovely evening out
Looking a tad heavy to be standing on one leg lol
And that concludes our fab evening out....hope you all enjoyed as much as we did.
Thanks for looking ;-)
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
A brilliant set of photos Linda, and a shame about the kingie, but you're not alone, they tease us all, and the cameras autofocus, by staying too close to branches....
Those sunset pics are awesome, and the water levels were looking a little low, but not as low as around here. A friend I know from one of my local reserves, has shown me a photo of the reserves big lake, or should I say mudflats!
That is dry!

Lovely photos and a lovely evening too!
When can we visit?
Hi Linda,
That looked to be be a very productive evening stroll, with some lovely pictures, the Spotted Flycatchers and Bullfinches were great and it's always a privilege to see a Kingfisher regardless of photographic opportunities.
The pictures with last of the sun worked very well and the sunset was a golden treat.
Thanks for sharing,
Trevor
