Salmon leaping

Two days of rain, some very heavy, in the Pennines has now reached Hexham and the Salmon are going crazy for it.

  • Makes me tired just looking at the fab pics Bob...who'd be a salmon eh? Thanks for sharing :o)
  • Always a great sight to see Bob. We have a couple of spots on the upper reaches of the River Ure where in recent years we have been able to see this. It is certainly a sign that our northern rivers have got a lot cleaner in recent years. Is it the upper Tyne at Hexham? It is a while since we were there Thanks for posting the brilliant photos

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can

Hi Pete, it is still the (joint) Tyne at Hexham bridge and weir though its probably only 4 or 5 miles further upstream to the meet of the North and South Tynes..

  • Absolutely extraordinary, Bob. Thank you.

  • We get the run of the sea Trout here usually not until Oct/Nov, and certainly not the size of those huge Salmon. Fabulous pics Bob, thanks for posting.

    Lot to learn

  • Brilliant - something that is on my wish list to see

  • Wonderful shots Bob. They are all excellent, but my favourite is number 18. I love how it is following the line of the river and the Salmon is so detailed. Well captured ...
