if they have gone to prison hopefully that is a punishment enough to make them realise its not something to be taken lightly

The only time this country acts on sentencing very quickly is if the crown estate is the victim.
For those old enough to remember the sentences handed out to the Great Trim Robbers of 1965 and look at other robberies of similar ilk, but not on Crown Estate.
Even (sorry to drag this in to the thread) HS2 protestor convictions are processed very quickly, whereas other crimes seem to drag on.
