I thought I had missed the Snow Buntings at their usual winter spots this year as I hadn't been able to get through to the coast as often as I would have liked. I was delighted to spot this one on the promenade and beach yesterday at Blyth.

It sure is. Where I come from even the sparrows wear knuckle dusters ...
PimperneBloke said:Lovely captures Bob. Not sure about late or not, as one of my books has no migratory details, and another says that there is a small breeding population in the Highlands, so make of that what you will!
And of course that is in the Cairngorms. If Iim correct the last survey of the Snow Buntings by the RSPB and other’s in the Cairngorms produced a small breeding/nesting population of around 60 breeding/nesting pairs in the Highlands of Scotland{. I have been lucky enough many many decades ago to see the Ptarmigan while walking in the Cairngorms with my Father and family and the Ptarmigan parents with 5-6 young behind and the Ptarmigan’s where just not bothered about me and my family been only feet away in front of the Ptarmigan’s! Not in winter! But in June! Sadly I’ve never seen the breeding/nesting Snow Buntings in the Cairngorms .
Regards,
Ian.
This shows where the small breeding Snow Buntings in Scotland nest and breed. The small coloured green area’s are where the Snow Buntings nest/breed@!
Whether late, passing through or whatever, nice photos Bob.
