Some overlooked photos of a magpie family day in the garden...
The youngster on the fence, had just been fed by one of the parents, and just hung around for ages, no urgency, unlike the adults.
Some more odds and sods from an idle, and rare sunny, day in the garden, watching swifts, bees and house sparrows, and of course, the young blue tits.....

We are pretty sure this is a fledgling Skylark, on the Malverns yesterday
i love robins said:Great photos Mike as usual, your bird stand is really nice I must admit I haven’t seen one like that before. Your garden birds seem pleased with it too.
Thank you.
I think as far as the birds are concerned, so long as they can feed safely, that's all that matters to them....
The feeding station is a known brand, and I can't for the life of me recall the name, but Peckish seems to ring a bell, and a quick search shows a very similar one. The actual feeders are from a variety of sources, inc RSPB.
No gosling photos, though still downy and growing fast, were being very heavily protected by mom & dad. They didn't like the camera, because when I lowered it, they seemed more relaxed, until, I calmly raised the camera again, so respecting the parents I've no photos, but plenty of mallard ducklings....
There's always one unruly infant!
But mamma mallard soon had them taking a well earned nap
And the swallow chicks, probably around 7-10 days old by now, quietly waiting for food to arrive.
Then, all of a sudden, they must have heard the call, "lunch is on its way" and all hell broke loose!
Me, me , me, me, me.....
Though the photos are record shots of only one chick being fed, the others didn't come out too well with the light being poor and no flash used, I did note the feeding of the chicks was very orderly.
It was a case or left to right by both parents, automatically, so no chick had more than its fair share.
There were five chicks, though only four are seen in this series of photos, though I have some video to add, taken using the 5D4 on a tripod, which I'll add at a later date, once i've sorted and uploaded them to my Flickr pages.
I keep forgetting to post these three short videos, of a vixen with a cub, may be more than one, I'm not sure, but it was nice to see the cubs in the garden.
