Those photos are very good considering you didn't have your big lens with you. Enlarging them and the clarity is very good and clear.
I'm no expert, but a guess would be

Had a quick look on the map at Brancaster, not an area I know, though last summer I made the three plus hour drive to Titchwell Marsh from near Birmingham. I picked the wrong day, it was too hot and sunny, which might seem strange to say, but nature is more sensible than we humans, and stayed low to keep cool.
But I did get to see my first turnstone.....
I'm hoping to make a return later this year, if fuel costs don't spiral too much, not something I'm overly hopeful on at the moment.
