A day out at Carlton Marshes, Suffolk

Last week we went to Suffolk Wildlife Trusts Carlton Marshes, there had been reports of a female Garganey, which we've never seen, and a Glossy Ibis. No Glossy Ibis and we still haven't seen a Garganey.

Here's what we did see.

First up a Common Buzzard.

Then one of the many Chinese Water Deer that live here. East Anglia is the only part of Britain to have all six types of deer that live in Britain, although we've never seen a Sika Deer here.

A fly past of Grey Plovers.

The same Water Deer when we headed back along the path.

A pair of the many Pintails.

Walking back to the visitor centre for a cup of tea there was a noise in the reeds followed by a plop in the water which turned out to be a Water Vole. My first decent view of one, let alone a photograph of one, for ages then it was gone.

Late afternoon another Water Deer.

A Little Egret fishing in the late afternoon sun.

Farewell to what looks like a little Perch.

Finally a Coot in the last of the light.

Carlton Marshes is a very large reserve with lots of wildlife, although the views of it can be quite distant at times.

Anyway another enjoyable and sunny day out.

Best Wishes,

Trevor
