So after the fabulousness that was Slimbridge on Sunday (Part One Here and Part Two Here) it turned out I had a couple of hours to kill Tuesday morning, so as the forecast wasn't great staying local seemed the best option, and also being inspired by Mike's Greenfinch and Bob's Yellowhammer, I decided on the Trailway
It stayed gloomy, but dry, so a lot of the pics have been lightened a smidge to show detail
There was a small flock of Redwing at the start of the path (the resident barn owl hadn't been forthcoming )
Goldfinches were chattering away, adding splashes of colour in the murk
And Dunnocks were in song, and up trees again, just to confuse me
Flittering and Fluttering again, deep in the foliage a pair of Goldcrests refused to pose for me
I think this is a Robin, that is less orange where I've had to lighten the image
Song Thrush (hopefully!)
There were a lot of Robins about, these three interacting
But then two flew away, leaving Billy No-Mates
I'm not sure how I spotted it, but a Greater Spotted Woodpecker was up to the right, and then flew over me, to be up to the left!
Mrs Bully appeared, but Mr Bully stayed frustratingly en twigs (as the French might say)
And then (thanks Bob!) my first Yellowhammers in ages
There was more flittering and fluttering, and a 2nd pair of Goldcrest were being their normal awkward selves!
Long Tailed Tits kept popping up, but with leaves for faces, or twigs for wings
Another pair of Song Thrushes were foraging along the hedgerow with some Blackbirds
There was another, larger, flock of Redwings, probably 20ish birds. I snapped many, but saw only Redwings, no Fieldfares
Finally the Lollipops relented from their constant movement!
And so concluded a dull day down the Trailway!
Always a delight to see Long Tailed Tits, and for me the Bully's and Yellowhammer were highlights...so a not so dull day after all

Lot to learn
Definitely a successful day out, goldcrests, lollipops, bullies and redwings.
Many thanks for sharing.
