Today's outing

An afternoon at one of our small local wildlife reserves. Female Kingfisher keeping her distance today but came in several times.

Tree Sparrow

Stock Dove

Yellowhammer

Great Tit

Long Tailed Tit

Roe Deer

  • Wow Bob, some great photos there, love the kingfisher, and the Yellow hammer and the Roe deer. And the other photos are superb too. You certainly had a nice and rewarding day out, Your local wildlife reserve is a little gem. And one to be drooled over lucky you.
  • Lovely set Bob, not seen a Yellowhammer in probably a year, little stunners. I'm wondering how the lollipop thinks it's going to fit a peanut in its delicate liittle gob lol
Not sure I've seen a tree sparrow, or at least, not knowingly, and Kingie looked as superb as always.

    Thanks for sharing

    Thanks PB

If you have been to Bempton Cliffs then you should have seen Tree Sparrows.

    Bob

  • Great bunch of pictures again Bob, these smaller reserves, often run by local wildlife trusts, can be very productive. When you have a local one like yours you get to know the place so well you can often spot any unusual visitors. We are very short on Yellowhammers locally despite trying a supplementary feeding programme but our Tree Sparrows are doing well.

    Pete

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can

  • Another set of brilliant photos Bob, even if you did have an obstropalous kingfisher and muntjac.

  • Never made it to Bempton, Mrs PB decided on Berwick town rather than a choppy boat trip or wind blown cliff ascent... when we were there the weather was "iffy", but we'll certainly be heading back to Northumberland at some stage, so I'll put my foot down (if she lets me) and say we're going to Bempton lol
  • A lovely set Bob, a good day out again indeed.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • Wonderful to see your photos Bob, especially the Yellowhammers. The wildlife trust did a walk here it must have been two years ago now, especially to count them but none were sighted. Such a shame to read of their demise, we used to get them feeding on seed down on the ground in the garden it must have been 15 years ago now, I wasn't taking photos worse luck. I believe the farmers having changed their way of farming have taken some of the blame for the drop in numbers. No Tree Sparrows here either, lovely bird to see. Your Kingfisher was a busy bird, and posed well for you, thank you for putting them up, always great to see.

    Lot to learn
