Regards,
Ian.
Amphibians, and reptiles, are as much a part of nature as birds and plants, and though I'm not from the north east, it is interesting to read they have made their own springtime count.
Incidentally, there has been an annual thread for amphibians and reptiles for a couple or more years. Here's the link to last years: Amphibians & Reptiles 2021

Im not from the North East but I think its interesting aswell. I got a small pond in the garden in 2020 and I got 2 fishes and lots of wild tadpoles in there but a few hatched into frogs in my small pond in the garden. There was lots of tadpoles. The eggs hatched in March or April and I took pictures of them in April. In July or August 3 of them hatched into Frogs I heard them and saw them in August. I dont know if the others hatched or not but there was only 3 frogs that came up when it was sunny. They still stayed in the pond until October. I havnt seen them since then
but no Wild newts have found it yet. There is a very very big pond not far away that had newts but I don’t usually see them
I didn’t know they had crested newts in North East England Iv only seen a newt once.
But For the crested newt If I ever go to North East England one day It would be cooll to see the crested newt.
