I'll get this one started off with a Marmalade Hoverfly -Episyrphus balteatus

I found it in drowning in the bird bath and forgot to wear gloves. So I just put it on the bird table to warm up cause the bird bath was freezing and then washed my hands after. Its the only photo I have of an invertrevrete this year so far so I hope you don’t mind. I thought this would be a good one cause it’s very colourful. Its in the leafhopper and treehopper family. Its got a bright blue base on his head and under the wings
What a fabulous photo Cin, and many thanks for setting up the 2022 thread.
I've cross referenced the old thread to this one, and for those interested, the 2021 thread: All about insects 2021 can be found on the link below.

Surprised to see this Red Admiral in the garden this morning. Not bad for beginning of February in Central Scotland I thought, but maybe just an indication of how screwed up our weather is.
That’s interesting I havnt seen any butterflys where I am yet. and I’m in Gloucestershire so I’m much further down.
Very nice capture, sadly been without a car for a few weeks hope to get it back this week or beginning of next week, so I have only been down the lane with the macro lens and have see quitea lot of bugs out will dig a few out and post them.

Cooll. That’s helpful for me aswell since I take lots of photos of butterfly’s and moths sometimes And I didn’t know you did a butterfly and moths 2022 aswell. For me though I tend to see lots of butterfly’s more around spring and summer time so for me I could send some more around then if you don’t mind it?
Taken 13/1/2022 just down the lane from me.
