Lot to learn
Yep, more wind, and snow!
As the olde sayin' goes, "Ne'er cast a clout till May is out"
I've got a photo of me HERE standing with snow over five foot deep behind me, late March 2013, and I stand six foot tall, which was Easter weekend that year......
On a more cheerful note, another fine set of photos, especially the buzzard, and it looks like you bee is a white tailed bumble bee.

Wendy S said:Mike I understood that the May referred to was the blossom of the Hawthorn. If that is so it has been out in profusion here for about 10 days certainly to early to be casting any type of clouts.in fact looking out the window at sleet/hard rain at the moment a day for the big coat I think :-)
As with a lot of folklore, there is often a good many possibilities to the origins, and this one is no different.
Many centuries back, clout was referred to as clothing or cloth, often thick cloth, and as we know, and I'm sure it hasn't changed that much over the centuries, particularly those further north, frost and snow is not a rare thing through to May. In many parts of Scotland, snow is still apparent on many hill tops and sides, as well as mountains even as late as June and July.
