Incredibly difficult to capture this timid bird a new visitor to our feeder in London.

I could be wrong, but jay's as a corvid are predominantly ground feeding birds, so depending on what your garden consists of it could be the jay has learned to feed from the woodpeckers spillage, which could be why you're seeing them at the same time.
If I am wrong, then I'm sure someone will correct me.
