Mr Woodpecker

Incredibly difficult to capture this timid bird a new visitor to our feeder in London.

  • Nice that you get these woodland birds in London Pipsqueak,

    Pete

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can

  • I am seeing a pattern of the woodpecker and a Jay being seen at the same time, although it is only the woodpecker feeding , and more difficult photographing the Jay - feeling totally honoured for their visits though.

I could be wrong, but jay's as a corvid are predominantly ground feeding birds, so depending on what your garden consists of it could be the jay has learned to feed from the woodpeckers spillage, which could be why you're seeing them at the same time.

If I am wrong, then I'm sure someone will correct me.
