I didn't realise what a treat I was in for when I went to do my other butterfly site today .... better weather than last time, lots of flutters including a Swallowtail that I failed to photograph because of these two
Pete, I now understand your enthusiasm - what a bird and what a flyer - she is wonderful and I feel very honoured and privileged to watch her hunting. I'm really sorry the photos aren't crisp but at least I have some - best viewed by opening them

What a treat for you and us, Caroline. I've got a soft spot for all the plovers but especially for Dotterel since I had them running around my feet in Northern Norway. Looks like a juvenile. Dotterel is one of those birds in which the female leaves the male to bring up the chicks and migrates first. Well done on seeing Marsh Harrier (correction Hen Harrier) , beautiful birds which I've not seen very often.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
PimperneBloke said:Cin says Hen Harrier, Tony says Marsh Harrier, and Pete doesn't specify
Sorry, my mistake, I don't know why I said Marsh Harrier. Old age I guess. LOL
