I'll start this years thread off with a couple of insects from a walk in the woods with my homemade beating sheet & a stick
a few 12-spot ladybirds
& a sleepy Weevil that I think is Lixus pulverulentus
Last years thread is here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/206718/all-about-insects-2020
Best wishes

I shall snaffle some tomorrow & put under the microscope ... into a jar with some rose leaves then! Lol
Lol, Wendy, but perhaps the world has enough Whitefly?! (Just a silly thought, I know--carry on!)
Edit: I wonder who eats them?
Kind regards, Ann
Possibly a honey bee, whatever, it was darting from flower to flower, so either the pollen wasn't up to scratch, or the flowers weren't ready to yield.

Found this online Ann ...
(Pardon the Scottish Accent)
Such a treat yesterday to see these on our butterfly walk, they are Ascalphids & are really my favorite insecte, beautiful,
This one looks like it just hatched & was drying it's wings
They were an unexpected boost to morale.
