Just starting off with a link to last years thread here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/201672/dazzling-damsels-and-dragons-2019#pifragment-4285=1
About a week ago the large Red Damsels arrived
& then yesterday caught a glimpse of a Broad Bodied Chaser
it then flew off across a field.
Happy hunting & stay safe all.

The owner of this tweet gave me permission to share on here ... quite the most lovely detail in this pic!
A male Migrant Hawker in the garden. Typically, it decided to perch in front of bright yellow leaves which didn't make for the best of photos even after tweaking.
Despite its name they do breed in the UK and locally to me. Quite an early one as I don't usually see them until Aug/Sep.
Finally, we seem to have arrived at the time when the Hawkers and Darters have woken up. Getting close to Hawkers is a rare thing, but Darters are much happier to pose for you. Here's a traditional shot of a male Ruddy Darter
And a close up of one sunbathing on a convenient block of marble
Close, you call that close? This is close ...
I had the camera resting on the stone just a few inches in front of him and he wasn't bothered.
