More time for garden pictures!

Collecting photos of some of my garden visitors. Thought I would share them and add more as ||I get them. Isolation giving me more time!

Lucky the sparrowhawk hung around long enough for a few shots

Jay a regular visitor

Surprised the Fieldfare and Redwing are still in the garden

Low flying Buzzard

Couldn't resist tis one!

New to my garden (in 35 years)   pair of Treecrepers

Very distant Red Kite

Lovely song thrush (which I mistook for a Mistle)

Now a few of the regulars:-

  • I'd be feasting too if I had those in my garden!!! Lovely pics David.

    Lot to learn

  • Looks like they have found each other at last!  No ducklings yet though.

    Earl morning Treecreeper visit

My natural bird feeder has been busy.  Including visits from me, lucky there are plenty to go round

Think i spotted a baby blackbird in the conifer tree.

A few insects on my wild patch.

Think this could be a Longhorn moth

See as i am in Essex could be an Essex Skipper

Not an expert but looking online I would say it is a Common Blue

Quick wash ....those cherries were a bit sticky

  • Fingers crossed for some baby ducklings soon. I think I could be doing with a cherry tree or 2 in my garden , would certainly save me a fortune on birdfood. How nice to finally have your own baby BB.
Lovely shots David and even some insects! lol

    Lot to learn

  • Thanks for all the comments and 'Likes'. Makes it even more enjoyable, certainly helped to keep me sane during the lockdown!!
  • Update from the last few days.  A bit of a washout at times this week!

Still  loads of Goldfinch about, happy to pose for me!

Young Blue Tit  testing out the flying gear

Mrs Blackcap still visiting the cherries

So is Mr or Mrs Fox

Comma enjoying the warmth of the pavers

Young Starling fending for itself....no adults in sight.

Popped out this evening after the torrential rain and was lucky enough to spot the Green  Woodpecker....before he spotted me.

Looks like it could rain again

Finally a young finch think it is a Goldfinch

  • Been the same up here aswell David..I think thats our summer been gone went!
Hope the chickens are still safe with Mr&Mrs Foxy about! That green woodpecker certainly made up for all the rain with perfect posing.
    Wonderful update!

  • Thanks Linda, I have tried to Fox proof their area, and so far seems to be working (is that tempting fate?) Getting both Green and Greater Spotted in the garden at the moment, but they are generally camera shy, so tonight was a bonus!
  • Oh thats good to hear...probably too much effort for foxy to get to them now!..Not jealous honestly lol my woodpeckers aint even visiting every day anymore but I think thats down to the 5,6 or 7 maggies that have taken over!!
