Starting new thread with this tiny speedy critter (best viewed full screen) in real time, what moves this fast?
Be two snails racing up the wall next! Lol

I've not seen a scene like this before
A diving beetle eating a Stickleback while a backswimmer hangs on underneath and shares the feast.
There was some struggling for dominance between them resulting in the dead fish spinning over and over!
I think the beetle might be Colymbetes Fuscus (a bit smaller than the Great Diving Beetle) while the backswimmer is Notonecta Glauca
Also spotted a few Weevils (probably Donacia Clavipes) wandering across the pond. Fabulous metallic look.
Great captures albeit a bit gruesome; I remember the greater water boatmen would attack any "meat" that fell into the pond and often had to rescue wasps or bees from the surface before they got devoured ! We had to be careful if we waded in to clean part of the pond as they would bite like Piranhas ! The bees seem to often find themselves out of their depth struggling on the surface of the pond so had to keep an eye out and rescue about half a dozen at least during the time we were there and then leave them to dry off on the rocks.

Fabulous captures Nige, nature at work and in harmony, even if eventually doing a good clean up job...
