Hooray for confused insects!

Heavily cropped and pushing the cameras abilities, across the way was a white tail bumblebee among someones apple blossom.

You're the second person to say that! Karen planted a spiral of daffodils in the lawn which have never flowered due to poor drainage. I mean to move them every year but then haven't the heart to mow the leaves off so we've ended up with a crop spiral! Well spotted though! I'll have to make sure there's nothing dodgy in the background of any other photos! LOL

Yes, it certainly looks like one of the Drone Flies, but I wouldn't like to say which - facial characteristics often help to distinguish them

Water Cricket (velia caprai)

About 8mm in length, and really hard to capture as they move about a lot.!!

They are difficult to photo, and that is most definitely a superb capture

I really like the way it shows how the legs rest on the 'skin' of the water, so it doesn't sink..
