Butterflies & Moths 2020

Seems normal appearances here in our Dorset garden - single Brimstone, STS, & Peacock. Looking forward to Mr Orange Tip soon!

Can I ask for an id of this moth please? Nostalgically, going back through old photos and this one got the better of me.

Ah, I know this one, Scoparia pyralella ukmoths.org.uk/.../scoparia-pyralella I get it quite often but over here there is a sosie which I don't think you get in the UK.

You were up late last night! I'm turning the lights off before 11pm most nights. Just brought last thursdays shopping in & washed it all with mild bleach (except the veggies) & then did all the doorhandles, light switches, chair backs, toilet mechanisms etc. My house has never been so clean!

Better safe than sorry H ... don't get to sleep very early these days & often awake at odd times in early hours so check on birds for a diversion!

I saw this on 24/5/15, so quite a while ago. Thanks so much for clearing that up for me. I think I'll call it 'Scopie' for short!
Re sleep, I took an course recently, and apparently there are several cycles of sleep which last 2-3 hours each. We only actually need three, two or even only one cycle, so don't worry if you come out of one or two cycles and are then awake.

Fabulous photos folks.

I'm struggling to get any pics at the moment, mainly due to the fact we don't have any flowers that attract butterflies or moths, other than the buddleia in the front garden, and that would make social distancing a bit awkward if anyone was to walk past.

However, I've definitely seen a couple of Red Admirals, unmistakably by their size and very dark under wings to confirm their markings vs tortoiseshell.

Also seen, large white and tortoiseshell during the last couple of days.

I'm located to the east of Birmingham, not too far from all the HS2 workings
