Hi All, I took an executive decision & decided to amalgamate the Butterfly & Moth threads which may make it easier to find if it's used more!
These are the old threads from 2019 Beautiful butterflies https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/200195/beautiful-butterflies-2019#pifragment-4285=1
& Mostly Moths https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/198118/mostly-moths-2019/1273216#pifragment-4285=1
To start us off here are a few from the recent traps & wine rope,

Look what turned up today, 1st time since 2013 & no photo since 2011, Large Chequered Skipper & there were three of them. I chased the first 2 around for a good half hour & they wouldn't stop. Then on the way back to the car, chin on floor, & this one caught my eye, just sat there! LOL

gaynorsl said:Beautiful butterfly Hazel, how did you manage to hold the camera steady to take that shot, I expect you are still shaking:-)
I panicked when it took off after the first shot, but it landed again in even a better place, I just couldn't believe my luck. I only saw it because another butterfly landed nearby. We went home with a big smile. OH didn't get to take any photos cos he's just had a cataract op, but he was watching to see where it went.
Fabulous photos folks, and Nige, I'm missing my annual dose of six spot burnet moths, which I see at RSPB Conwy.
