Hi All, I took an executive decision & decided to amalgamate the Butterfly & Moth threads which may make it easier to find if it's used more!
These are the old threads from 2019 Beautiful butterflies https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/200195/beautiful-butterflies-2019#pifragment-4285=1
& Mostly Moths https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/198118/mostly-moths-2019/1273216#pifragment-4285=1
To start us off here are a few from the recent traps & wine rope,

Perennial Imperata "Red Baron" (Blood Grass), one common name is Japanese blood grass ... they came from Daily Mail Garden Shop!
What lovely photos Hazel of the Bee Hawkmoth and the Fritillary butterflies, never having seen any here, do we get them I wonder. I took loads of photos yesterday but will put up just these few as everyone will be getting similar now I suppose.
Nice Ringlet
and nice to see with wings closed too.
These two flew from right in front of me, I thought hey up that's a big butterfly and then realised
there were indeed two:-) More Meadow Browns on the way.
Lot to learn
With 2 white spots in the dark circle there are probably more Gatekeepers on the way! LOL When they are flying like that they look so funny, we had some the other day too.
EDIT : Oh no, you're quite right, just unusual Meadow Browns, didn't look properly ! LOL

Between 17 July - 9 August, @savebutterflies are asking as many people as possible to get outside and spend just 15 minutes recording the #butterflies or #moths you can spot near you!
