Bird of Prey pictures?

They're beauties Nige, as you say, I also heard the female has the creamier head and larger, clearer shoulder patches. Saw three or four MH' at LM every day but they are always too distant for decent pics.

Pale Chanting Goshawk.

Cracking shot of the Pale Chanting Goshawk, Tony. I'm guessing that was taken in South Africa.

I saw its cousin the Dark Chanting Goshawk when I went to Gambia about 11 years ago. Don't know how you tell them apart. My photo was taken by holding the camera to a telescope lens so poor quality but better than nothing.

Thanks Tony , it was actually taken in Namibia in the Skeleton Coast NR. Lucky you had the telescope, a very neat trick, not sure I would have thought to do that. Only took bins and camera on the trip, self drive part of the journey.
We did see a Dark Chanting Goshawk on another trip in Zambia but can't find any pics now.

Thanks, Bob, Alan, Tony and TJ for the pics and link. There's an amazing number of Goshawk species in the world. I happened to be looking at photos recently and was astonished at the number and variety.

It's funny that Goldfincher who encouraged us to start this thread has been conspicuously absent. However, we plough on.

Unfortunately my lens broke, and sadly with a wedding to save for a replacement is just not high on the list right now. Have been enjoying all of the pictures though guys and gals
