I went looking for Short-eared Owls at Lunt Meadows on Sunday afternoon. Sadly, not one showed. However, I really can't say I was disappointed, because this popped up instead.
It actually came out quite early, maybe 2pm, and spent the rest of the afternoon hunting over quite a range: much too big to keep up with it all the time, but I haven't seen one this well for ages, so it was beautiful watch and although it wasn't amazingly close I did get some decent photos.
What a fabulous way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon … but still have to try and find a Shortie to photograph before they go ...
