Another newbie last night when I discovered this lovely Buff Ermine newly emerged from overwintered pupa, always a great surprise that something so small can be alive all that time!

I saw loads of these Speckled Yellow moths last week at Gait Barrows NNR.
Also this.
I recognise it as a Pyrausta sp and remember we had a special sighting last year, from nearby. However, this one is very faded and I wasn't able to get different views, so I'm not sure of the exact species (i'd guess Purpuralis, but...).
Forgot to add this hairy beastie - a Drinker Moth caterpillar. I found two on the boardwalk at Foulshaw Moss and gently persuaded them onto grass stems to move them somewhere they wouldn't get trodden on
