Well here goes, for better or worse, another year of moths. The old thread is here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/196070/mostly-moths-2018/1221500#1221500
To start us off a couple of silly ones that came to greet the first trap of the year on the night of the 1st to 2nd january. It was around 6-7°C all night & frosts ever since so I gave it a go.
A Double-striped Pug

Nothing earth-shattering, but a start!
Best wishes

WendyBartter said:Possibly was injured or exhausted by that very strong blow Sandra ... lots of eggs, have you counted them?
I've not counted them yet, she is lying on top of some too. It's said that they can lay up to 50 eggs, I don't think it's far off that number
Hazel C said:Will you have the eggs Wendy? Could you put some into nature once they are hatched & feeding
I can do that H, have left long strips of plantain & grasses growing in the cracks of paving to attract bugs for Hoggies & cultivating new dandelions too ... can easily put some hatchling GT's out there under net cover to feed in safety!

Will have to arrange a transfer of eggs Sandra, will email you!
Vapourer Moth ... same thing!
Had the adult recently, not seen so often as the caterpillar
although I expect that Wendy has had a few hatch from her caterpilars! LOL
Lol H ... bet he doesn't have eyes like that Vapourer male's wing markings?
Roflol, likely will never speak to you again H!
