THIS THREAD IS NOW DISCONTINUED, please add to the new 2020 thread HERE
Often we don't have enough photos to create a full thread so thought I'd start an Odds & Sods thread where you may want to add a pic or two when you don't have enough for their own thread . Feel free to add your rogues gallery here !
I only had a couple of pics today, one a Treecreeper and the other a very hacked off looking Great Egret huddled against the reeds trying to keep warm !

Lot to learn
Pretty grey morning when we visited Pennington Flash for a walk round and after recent heavy rain there was plenty of mud around on the side tracks. It was very quiet on the small bird front and I hadn't taken one photo until we were about to head home and as a stroke of luck we called in to Horrocks Hide for the 2nd time and this beauty arrived two minutes after we entered the hide !
I found your photo perch Nige !! The KF's hadn't been seen there for hours so talk about a lucky break two mins after sitting down in hide ! I only had less than a minute to get any shots.

Back up to see if there was any signs of the rutting on Big Moor yesterday, not yet. Also great to see the deer hiding amongst the ferns and long grass and the stags forgetting they have a foot and half of antlers up there, easier to hide when you are a doe I think.
You've probably been back to Big Moor since this, but if not, I understand some of the deer have started the rut.
The info has come via Eastern Moors Twitter account.

Well done! It is nice when you catch them there. It seems they are using it more often at the moment (and Ramsdale's less) but you still need to be lucky to get it or be prepared to sit there all day for a brief opportunity as they don't stay long, as you found out.
Awww that's sweet. Hazel and Nige sharing perches Fab shots all (loving the wagtail!)
Just home from work, opened door to let cat out, and thought hmmm... no squabbling goldfinch....
Ahhhh... that explains it!!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
A quote from the Eastern Moor twitter account a couple of days ago,
"Only one week to go until our red deer events kick off for another year, with the Red Deer at Dusk walk. Join our expert rangers as we take a twilight walk up to White Edge to view the rutting deer at this spectacular time of day. "
