Amphibiens & Reptiles 2018/2019

Of course, have no idea of sexes, presume appearance of spawn may settle the issue?  

Sorted methinks ... couple of blokes waiting for female to happen by! 

Well, I suppose that would explain the lack of spawn!

No photos yet, but I came home from work tonight to find two large Frogs and a big old dollop of frogspawn in the pond. Lots of croaking and swimming around so it’ll be interesting to see if there’s any more spawn tomorrow. It looks to be a direct reflection upon the mild winter this year as the frogspawn last year was first spotted on the 14th April. Also last year it was laid on top of the Iris’s which then grew up taking lots of spawn with it out of the water. This year it’s under the water so likely to remain safer in that respect. Perhaps we’ll get more than just one single monopole this year. Fingers and webbed feet crossed.!! :-)

Male Frog in the pond today.

He's been cheerily croaking all week, so naturally when I went to video him tonight....nothing.!! Not a peep.!! He does look a wee bit unhoppy though...heh heh....!!

Will maybe try again tomorrow. :-)

Poor chap, he's probably a bit lovesick hoping to attract a nice young lady.

He's a lovely specimen PA ... have put mine into slidesshow with a bit of croaking at the end (the frog & me egging him on! Lol)

She's back with him now, too dark for any video though. I think he may have wooed her with offers of food.......French flies and a diet croak perhaps. :-)
