Better late than never, I'm just starting this off with this little beetle that came in from the cold recently, I don't know what it is yet
I think it may have been injured when I scraped it off my neck!!
THIS is a link to old thread.
Best wishes

thanks for the extra info Tony, interesting stuff; there's more to this bee-fly than meets the eye lol I don't think I've ever seen one before although we do get a variety of insects. Sunday's going to be a roaster of a day so we might see more butterflies too :) keep the camera on standby lol
post edit: seeing some rather large wasps around at the moment so send me a bee-fly lol

Unknown said:The spots seem higher up than other G-vW and the black more extensive on the wing tips. Can I see a hint of speckling coming through from underwing or am I imagining it?
I agree, female Orange -tip & you can see the faint greenish mottling on the rear wings. lovely photo again TJ.
Thanks Hazel de France, I was hoping it was but when you can't see the underwing I find them a bit tricky.

This butterfly was sunbathing at that same time as I was putting out mealies for the Spadgers.
I assume it's a Comma?

Does it have a name? Lataecia the lacewing? maybe it's a boy!
Ha ha ha H ... didn't have time to find out ... I let it out to play in the garden for a bit & it never came back!! There's gratitude!!! Lol
A new one for me yesterday, it came by on the gravel while I was de-nailing a stack of wood on Easter Monday (as you do). I got very excited, got Ron to watch it while I took some photos & then moved it onto some flowers where it got ready to pounce on the various flies there. It's a juvenile Conehead mantis. Really weird!
then it turned upside down
It made my day!
Ooooh, very weirdly fascinating H! Looks like something from one of Byron's video games!! Lol
I've got a Ladybird!!
