What an awful day it's been here today. The rain eventually stopped around mid-afternoon so I chanced the failing light to see if there would be anything about.
The usual suspects posing on their favourite posts.
This herring gull was quite happily letting the tide sweep it downriver.
'I'm tired and I want to go to bed.'
Not after a good shout, though!
This black-headed gull stood out beautifully against the boat in the background.
Another black-headed gull and its reflection.
A gull get-together upriver.
It was too dark to make out what these waders were, though I could hear curlews and a few lapwings were about.
I love watching the buoy heeling over as the tide surges out.
I was very pleased that this lovely place took no real damage in the high tide on Friday night!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Nice set Clare, looks very winterish!!
Same weather here Clare, virtually non-stop rain overnight and morning and intermittent during afternoon but it's good to see you got out and brought us these lovely Gull photos, they are so expressive like the Corvids !

At least you ventured out, i stayed in. :)
Lovely Gull pics Clare. The Gulls look very calm today apart from Mr Shouty, there's always one!!!
Kind regards
Jenny
Even if it had stopped raining, the light still looks pretty dismal, so you did well to get those characterful shots of the gulls.
