Most of the waterfowl have long gone from Lavell's Lake, Berkshire but nevertheless I paid a vist to the site to see what might be about. A coot was nesting right in front of the hide and I think I can just see an egg.
I was idly watching a pair of redshanks who seem to have decided to stay for the summer -
- when look what turned up unexpectedly. I'm not sure who was more surprised, me or the redshank.
"Who's that handsome chap in the water?"
He didn't stay for long but time enough to shoot a bit of video. I should have made it a bit shorter but I promise there's no views of bushes.

An unexpected sight 60 miles or more from the coast although other sightings have been reported around Berkshire.
