My female redpoll returned yesterday, and came again today. Her mate wasn't with her. Last week he came alone a couple of times, so I think there could be a nest nearby. They are such tiny birds. When they land on the finch feeders next to my goldies they look so small and vulnerable.
Here's another picture of my very first baby. His name is Fluff Ball. Can't think why!
In a thread yesterday several folk commented their jackdaws were eating them out of house and fat balls. Mine certainly are. They seem desperate to eat fat. I said I thought it was because they were feeling the cold. I think this chap proves my point - he has got himself a hoody!!!
No day would be complete without a starling squabble.
And in a battle for a feeder between jackdaw and feral pigeon, surprisingly the pigeon will win.
Cheers, Linda.

I really like your pictures, in particular little fluff-ball.
Fantastic photos Sparrow. The redpoll is gorgeous, the baby sparrow adorable and the jackdaw is superb. I do get jackdaws in my garden and I have always liked them. I have no decent photos yet as they appear in large groups and the slightest disturbance frightens them off.
I loved the starlings pic and had a good laugh when I read Al's brilliant caption. (Excellent work AL!)
The jackdaw is looking so enigmatic, that picture is crying out for a caption but I am useless at that sort of thing. Any suggestions anyone?
Kind regards Jane.
