One of my pairs of jackdaws was busy collecting nesting material. Between them they annihilated the lining of a wall basket. One was in the basket, riping it up then he passed a beakful up to his mate who was above him on the fence. She then flew off with it whilst he carried on the annihilation!! So sweet!!!!!!

Great capture. I had never realised how clever and resourceful birds could be until I started taking such an interest. Amazing.
PS I had my first ever Jackdaw visit me today.

As you know we have the same problem Sparrow, but I have never caught any of the birds being as efficient as your jackdaws. You have to admire them.
Hi Sparrow, great photos. He's very intent isn't he on getting it all out. I hope your summer plants that you put in the basket don't suffer the same fate!! Can just picture him with a busy lizzy petal behind each ear or perhaps some trailing verbena!!

Hi Sparrow
Ahhh they are sweet :-) Togetherness and resourcefulness. Are they nesting where you can see them building?
Best wishes Chris

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.
This is my first breeding season and I had no idea what went on in the bird world until now. It is truely wonderful for me to see all this activity, with several species collecting nest material and beakfulls of food. My fingers are crossed they bring their babies to my garden.
I don't know where my jackdaws are nesting but it can't be far away.
Great stuff Sparrow, it's amazing what you see when you take the time to look, something I never did until this last couple of years.

Hye Sparrow,
We have Jackdaws nesting all the time on the roofs around our terrace house. Last year produced 5 in a brood, and they are frequently in my garden with a load of rooks, pecking at my bird seed.
So look up. You'll soon hear them if they are near by! Chatterboxes!

Lovely pictures of the Jackdaw, Sparrow
They are cheeky chappies {big smile}
I have noticed that 'all' birds like to take the palnt hanger liner lining for their nest material.
We had some lining stolen by Long Tailed Tits last year.
