By that I mean Jude the Jay. First one I've seen in the garden since last Spring but I guess it's that time of year. It didn't take him long to find the peanuts.
And then another one turned up with slightly different coloured eyes. I've no idea whether it's a female or not but I'm calling her Jessica. I toyed with naming her Jemima but that's too Beatrix Potter. LOL
I wonder if it's the same pair that visited frequently last winter. I hope they become regulars.

In my local wood we are lucky to have many oak trees and this autumn the ground is covered in acorns. I have never seen so many. When it's windy I've been showered with acorns. I don't think I'll many Jays in my garden this winter, but I'll still put out the peanuts.
Great to see the Jays back Tony and beautiful photos of them enjoying the peanuts; good choice of names too ! We haven't seen much of "our" Jays in the garden apart from on the odd occasion but I often hear them and their raucous squawks up in the Oak trees and in the general neighbourhood so think they have enough acorns to keep them going at present. The same Jays seemed to return to our garden (from what I could tell) so I bet they are the same pair back remembering their favourite take-away lol

Great to see your Jays TJ. I had a "back end view" of one today. They fly past the end of our garden but rarely visit. I must try a few peanuts in winter.

Yes lucky you, gorgeous pics TJ, I see and hear a pair at the bottom of our lane, what a noise they make when flying away, and it's always flying I see them so love to see yours so clearly.

@ Mike, I've noticed there does seem to be loads of acorns around this year so I'm surprised it came to my garden. When I first spotted it, it was probing my lawn perhaps looking for peanuts it buried last year. No chance of finding any methinks.
Haven't seen them this morning.
