A few birds at Tynemouth

went out for the day to Tynemouth, haven't been for donkeys years, so hopped on the metro. Arrived at the station to find a huge market/bric-a-brac thing going on, couple of shots later. Tynemouth station is an old metalwork canopy style and looks really nice, anyway here are the only few birds I managed to see,and apart from the two in the tree, just what you would expect.

first off though, opened my blinds to find this Comma planted on the bedroom window

  • Very nice, Terry!  What a lovely selection of photos - the birds are all lovely but I also like the scenery and (particularly) the market!  What a great place to hold one.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • I do so enjoy trips out with you TM, apart from the lovely bird images, I get to see some pretty impressive places & learn a great deal of history too (googled our Cuthbert!). Thanks for sharing, I feel as if I've been somewhere completely different!

  • Bonjowa Terry - Tynemouth is one of my favourite places to go when time permits. Nice mix of wildlife and scenery shots you have posted. The market is on EVERY Saturday but also visit the Green Ginger Shopping Arcade in the converted church in the town square - well worth a visit. I visit my chiropractor ( she goes by the name of Cruella ) about once a month to get "adjusted" and usually stay in the town for a few hours afterwards. The variety of birds is not that great I find but is still better than none! You must have blinked to not get a shot of a DFDS ferry coming or going from the Tyne.

  • Thanks for your kind words, really glad you enjoyed my day out.

@Clare, the market is quite large, covering both platforms and is on every Sat and Sun.

@wendy pleased you enjoy my trips out and reap the benefits of geography and history Lol

@Bill, first visit for years but enjoyed it nevertheless, spent most of my time by the priory and Tyne mouth, a few ships out at anchor but nothing in or out, did pop into the arcade, very nice

  • Great shots Terry - I bit far off the beaten path from here in South Wales so thank you for giving us a pictorial guide - it certainly looks like an interesting place to visit.
