This is just a few of a huge flock of Starlings that landed on my neighbour's roof. There must have been a couple of thousand. We do get lots of them as they feed on the blackberries along the river front but I've never seen so many at one time. There were at least ten times this number on other roofs in the area.

Wow! That is amazing and such striking photos! Where in the UK is this exactly?
Wow! I bet that was loud. Fantastic photos.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Pictures taken in Thamesmead, SE London. As I was standing underneath this flight, I could hear the pattering of droppings dropping all around but none of them hit me.
Ah fink it's bloomin' wonderful!!!

That lot can keep away from my feeders - I don't want to go bankrupt!
"Let loose the Kraken!"
Wow - that's quite a sight for sore eyes - bet there was an awful lot of noise! Fancy that lot descending on your roof - like something out of The Birds!!

Great photo's TMB, I wouldn't stand under that lot without an umbrella, and if it all missed you, I should put the lottery on :-)

Absolutely fantastic, what a sight. When we see them flying overhead the noise of the wings just makes you look up, but that is only a couple of hundred, to see that many must be awesome.
Lot to learn
Hello Thamesmead Birder!
This is not a crowd, but a cloud of starlings, and I think I can hear their noise over here.
Yours, Bente
I've noticed a few small flocks starting to gather but nothing like that number. Great sight.
