This little beauty has been sat in our garden all afternoon eating the bird seed and having a good drink and looks to be in really good condition. We've managed to get the number from its leg bands but although it's very tame, we did have one go at trying to catch it but if flew off. It has returned abour half later and is now sat on top of the garage. I did google up how to report a stray racing pigeon and it seems it is quite common for them to make a 'pit stop' and even says to stop feeding them after 48 hours to encourage them to go home. So, we're just going to leave it be at the moment, although I can't help thinking there will be someone, somewhere waiting for his racing pigeon to return home.

Hiya Lauren. It's a couple of weeks now since the racing pigeon appeared in my garden. It stopped about 48 hours and during that time fed well and looked in really good condition. It disappeared after that and has never returned since then, so I am hoping it has found its way home now.
Ok Tenks
We have had a racing pigeon around our garden, this is the 3rd day. I put bird seed out and water but cannot get closer than 3ft away so cannot see the ID on the ring. Its on the left leg. Should I stop feeding it and maybe it will fly home?
Hi CB, If it were at mine I would just keep feeding it up & let it have a rest ... sure it will make it's own mind up to go back home if it wants to! The main thing is to observe if it is well, feeding & drinking OK!
