Hi all as you may be aware our Weymouth reserves have succumbed to flooding. On Sunday morning the news started to break that all was not well on our Weymouth Reserves. As deluge met high tide, there was nowhere for the waters of the Wey to go but up and sideways, and quickly both Radipole Lake and Lodmoor submerged.
In response to the flooding we have set up a Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/rspbfloodfund If you would like to give to the flood appeal please do.
Many thanks,
RSPB Mods
Why not check out the news from the wildlife enquiries team?
Forgive me if this sounds a silly question, but for what do you need money? I'm sure that the RSPB has a contingency fund for such disasters, and I would like to know what you intend to do with any funds raised. This appeal does come over as rather a knee-jerk response, and I fear that your small band of loyal supporters will, once more, put their hands in their pockets.
Let's see a plan first.
Hi Simon ... not a silly question at all. We've just issued the a press release which I hope answers some of the good points you raise www.rspb.org.uk/.../318675-well-be-back-in-business-for-the-games I hope that helps? Tony Whitehead (RSPB South West)
Thanks Bob, a good point. But do remember that, although JustGiving do get a percentage, we actually get more than the donation in itself through gift aid. And these services are quick and easy ways of reaching a lot of people. Thank you for your support. Tony Whitehead (RSPB South West)
Thanks, Tony - helpful reply.
Does this area have a history of flooding? And if so what plans to rebuild this investment above the high water mark in future?
All good points 'bob's_retired_now'. Please feel free to send a good old fashioned Cheque to us if you want? If you do and want to know who to make it payable to and the address to send it to, just ask.
Cheers
Rob
