I have just returned from Lodmoor and the water levels has dropped to very nearly normal levels, also had the privilege of seeing a White Winged Tern (believe that is the correct name). I didn't manage a photo off it but did get a load of shots at the terns and the chicks.
There were quite a few adults just mulling around I guess they lost their young.
A few young were not being attended too but seemed healthy and some even took a fly about.

all the best
Good news to hear water levels have dropped considerably.
Jester, That is good news about the water levels but as you indicate we will remain uncertain about the young. The name of the tern varies according to which list you use. I am old enough to know it as White Winged Black tern and even though that is one heck of a mouthful I still tend to use it.

Got to say there was a lot of pooh on the mattresses so we know they were well use to thanks to Nick Quintrell for his swimming skills and all the RSPB on both sites for doing a sterling job

Lovely to see these photos, thanks.
Thanks Pat and all others for your support. Raining heavily again now. Our wildlife needs a break from this rubbish weather.
