I on many occasions have had the pleasure of seeing Kingfishers around Radipole. The river Wey at Radipole village used to be a great hotspot. I am aware there is a pair at the north hide, but is there anywhere else on the reserve to see them? My daughter (10) is new to birding and desperate to see them. Best times or venue info would be much appreciated.
I often see Kingfishers from the Observation Point at Lodmoor.
... that's from the Viewing Shelter as I see it's called :-)
Thanks Simon.
The hide on radipole has been the focus as this is where they bred last year. The pair were on eggs before the floods which sadly appears to have drowned their tunnel. It can take a while for them to regain condition to breed again, so fingers crossed they do exactly that. Autumn on radipole is great as we get plenty of birds dispersing and we have perches dotted around for them to sit and preen or fish from. Failing all that there is loads of great footage in our new look VC. Good luck!
