Today was a special day down at Lodmoor
Just as i arrived at the viewing platform the Glossy Ibis Flew and landed right in front of us.
Linnets and Wheaters were all over the place with Mistle Thrush, Chiff Chaff, Gold crest, warblers and swifts all joining in.
Waders were showing well, Little ringed plover and ringed plover were both on show along with Dunlin, Red Shank, Whimbrel, Godwits and a Curlew sitting on a post ( strange )
The Lodmoor Water fowl were about along with a Pin tale, Grey Lag goose ( the first one ive seen at Lodmoor ) and a very large teal with a half brown half green head rather than a green stripe.
The Marsh harriers were flying, and all the time the signature call of the Cuckoo was moving around.
Plus lots more birds that we have grown to know well
What a great time of year for Bird watching.
Dont be affraid to trying something new.
The Arc was built by amateurs, the Titanic by professionals.
What a brilliant day by the sound of it.
Twas a great day. Shame that l missed almost all of it. 11 warblers and 10 wader sp.s were noted in the morn plus that summer plumage cattle egret. A great time indeed pj. One weekend in early May a few years ago we had 7 heron sp and 7 tern sp on or over the reserves... That'd be nice!
