For those that haven't yet visited Radipole this Spring, be sure to get down soon for the chance to see a rare visitor to the reserve: a beautiful Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus)!
Over the last three weeks, visitors to the reserve have been delighted with glimpses of this enigmatic wetland bird. If anybody is lucky enough to snap a photo of him (your best bet will be patient viewing from the main hide), then please do post it up here on the forum for all to see!
Hi- nice, but now I feel old as I bumped into one there in september 1978!

I think I’m a jinx.
Everyone seems to have seen it (them), but on 3 visits all I’ve seen is glum faces in North hide: “seen the Ibis this morning?”. . . Hopeful . . . but a round of shaking heads and I drift off muttering about going for a late breakfast in Morrisons instead.

Get snapping, get posting, Get Carter (sorry got a bit carried away with the stream on that last comment!).
Seize the day!
The Radipole Ibis (its chum has been mainly on Lodmoor of late... must have had a quarel) has now been joined by a Black-winged stilt and at times yesterday were lurking in the same frame. so there's a challenge for you lens-folk!
Stilt now at Abbotsbury Swannery. Silly stilt.
Nick, I've just discovered your blog post from a couple of weeks ago - so we DO have a photo of Radipoles' glossy ibis! I'm not sure how to go about re-posting the photo here, but for anyone else who hasn't yet seen this particular bird [any luck yet, Possum?], here is the link to Nick's article:

I know mine weren't very good but I did put a photo up of the Glossy Ibis at Radipole too when I was there recently, the same day as seeing the Kingfishers and Snipe on the photos page, not the forum - just to let PossumDuck know!:-)
