Hi Sooty. Officially it is open from 8.30 til 4.30 7 days but usually it is open at about 7.45 mon-friday and seldom closed before 5. Will have some late openings now we have 4 beautiful harrier chicks flying about looking amazing. Watch this space and we will post some dates tomorrow for folk to pop in in the evening. They are so very worth it!
Thanks Nick,hope to have a visit on Sunday,fingers crossed we also see Water Rail as although just about all the places we visit have them it is the one species we always seem to miss.
We've only just decided on this so this is first place I am mentioning it! The hide will be open until 8pm every wednesday through August! As well as the hide being open we will have some childrens activities plus some nice hot soup on the go incase the evenings get chilly.
As for Water Rail you may struggle. They are generally only heard at this time of year (though we think one was seen being carried by a Marsh Harrier a few days ago!) but winter is the best time by far. During cold spells we usually have one that hangs around the bird feeders at the visitor centre.
