Nothing to do with Snape but exciting for a birdie beginner!

Went to Alton Water today and saw for first time chiffchaff, brambling and tufted ducks.  Large flock of brambling probably 100 at least, very active in the fields and trees.  How often I have heard chiff chaff and didn't know what I was hearing!  Now I do thanks to an RSPB pal who came with me and helped me identify these little chaps. Sadly no photos!  Several great crested grebes that I did hope might be displaying but not today.  Still, I had enough excitement for one day on such a gorgeous spring day.

  • Sounds like a good walk. 100 bramblings is an impressive flock. Sounds like you might have "caught the birding bug". Apologies if I'm to blame. Now you've caught it, I hope you enjoy your birding. Perhaps we'll see on more guided walks at Snape or Minsmere!
