I have just been sent some photos from Brian Clasper of his recent sightings.

This Waxwing has been easy to see by the path near the Wildlife Watchpoint Hide. The photo shows the wonderful colours including the sealing wax markings on the wings, and how camouflaged such a colourful bird can be.

For more information on Waxwings follow this link to one of last winter's blogs by Toby.

Just as easy to see recently has been this Pink-footed Goose, a less common visitor to Saltholme.

More unusual is it to see, let alone photo, our Bittern - so thanks for the photo Brian.

If you wish to see these avian visitors then reception staff will point you in the right direction, but the bittern is hard to predict. You may be lucky and one of our guides will have a 'scope on a Long-eared Owl which has been seen today. A position will have been chosen - if it is still here - which gives a good view but boes not disturb the bird.
