Exciting work is going on to make our viewing hides even better. Better for viewing wildlife and a better experience altopgether. First off is the wildlife watchpoint with its new wooden cladding inside and out which should be warmer and quieter in the rain. At the moment there is that lovely wood smell to enjoy too.
The entrance porch is new and includes an electric door which will open for you (when you press the button) - much better if you are weighed down with your optics or cameras and even easier if you have a toddler in a push chair, or are in a wheelchair.
The windows have been improved with a special coating to help repel dirt (and water). There are new Houdini windows which are split and allow completely open viewing - great if you want a clear view with your binoculars, telescopes or a camera. This will also let you experience the sounds from outside, and the wind on your face.
The wildlife watchpoint is open at the moment, closing again next week (20-24 March) to complete painting and glazing. There will be a couple of days the week after when the floor is being installed and ongoing work to tidy up the path.
Paddy's pool hide is also being upgraded and work will be complete by 31/3/17. Well worth a visit to Saltholme to see what developments are in progress. Enjoy.
