Hi Louise and All
Manged to witness another fledging, very lucky. Well timed for your Birthday bash - pretty sure they were real and not remote control ones!
When I got there the Adult male (where is that female?) came in without a fish and looked around before going. Then saw a fledgling fly out of the nest and then discovered two more already in the bushes. The 3 were scattered around the pond and spent most of the time very still almost out of sight, before flying away and not to be seen again. The Adult male tried to feed one of them but failed. After they had gone he twice went into the nest with a fish and came out with a fish. It seemed he was trying to get another one out but gave up. When I left, the Adult had not been seen for a couple of hours. I don't know what happened after 2.30pm, maybe someone else observed more then. Did more come out or ????? And did more fledge earlier and disappear???? These birds fascinate and frustrate.
It was great for the anniversary and for the many people who saw fledglings for the first time. The real highlight was when one of them flew straight at the hide suddenly banking literally a few feet away from us!
For the record, I have included pictures of the 3 fledglings observed. Apologies for the quality but they were staying well obscured and far away!

Hi Simon!
Thanks so much for sharing!
Brilliant birds to see, you are very lucky!
I don't know what has happened to the female (and by the way the aren't remote control promise!) but the male is doing a grand job!
So exciting that the fledging was on the same day as our birthday bash!
Do you mind if I pop these pictures on to the front of the blog pages?
Thanks!
Louise
