RM: Visit 12th July.

A very cloudy day!

There were rumours of a Kingfisher fledging day today, which is why I decided to go. Today was not the day.

A total of 39 species seen today, highlights -
Kingfisher of course
A welcome return of the Great Crested Grebe
Little Grebe with chicks
Grey Heron lying in wait for Coot chicks
Mallard broods
Coot City incl one juvenile who thought it was a Treecreeper
Teal still about
Lapwing incl juvenile
9 (nine) Green Sandpipers
Masses of Black-headed Gulls and juveniles
Lots of Common Terns
Warblers everywhere - Reeds in partic
Reed Buntings singing

I thought I saw a Bittern which turned out to be a Muntjac!
One Common Blue Damselfly, no Dragons. But I did see a Nymph.
Red Admiral, Small White and a Speckled Wood.

Wot, no summer?
